    The choice of cooking oils has expanded from one or two vegetable oils and olive oil to a wide range of nut and seed oils, many with purported health benefits along with unique flavor characteristics. The grocery store shelves are lined with everything from imported extra virgin olive to walnut and avocado oil. Other than the cost, is there really any difference and why would you use any of these fancy oils? Some oils do have nutritional benefits as well as interesting flavor profiles and can be a healthy addition to your diet when used in place of other fats and oils.     Smoked Salmon Citrus Salad

    On long, cold winter weekend days I’m typically in the kitchen making soup or baking bread or some other hearty dish.  Today it is snowy and cold outside but after coming in from shoveling I really wasn’t in the mood for something heavy.  What I really wanted was something light and fresh and a salad sounded like the perfect option.     3 tips for Getting Back on Track – My New Year’s Resolution

    We took down all our Christmas decorations this weekend.  I always have mixed emotions about that.  It just signals the end to the holidays and that is just plain depressing. The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year.   Ah well, now we head into a long (at least in the Northeast), cold and dreary winter.  But, then it also feels good to get the house back in order and all the extra clutter put away.  Back to normal and a bit more organized life.
